I now run 2 adult tap classes at different levels.   We entertain at local charitable venues and also the tappers have an opportunity to take exams for the award of medals and cups (these are not compulsory).  Most of all, they come to meet their friends and enjoy themselves.

The Adult Tap Class 1 meets at 8.30 pm on Mondays and this is open to all ages, all sexes and all sizes. Tap dance is terrific fun, terrific exercise and a wonderful stress beater.

We have lots of fun—lots of laughs—the friendly atmosphere encourages confidence—we dance to Broadway showstoppers, pop music, Latin rhythms—in fact anything!

Where Dance is Fun!

I also run Adult Tap Class 2 for more experienced tappers—this is on Wednesdays at 8.15 pm.  Pupils from this class were thrilled to have been invited by professional award winning singer, Andy Mawbey, to appear in his show in London.  The performance was so successful that we have been invited to join his 2009 tour  “Sinatra. A Fabulous Vegas Event” featuring the Big Band Sound of The MainEvent Orchestra!  Looking forward to knocking them dead!

“Happy Feet girls were Fantastic!”

“Happy Feet, brilliant!”

“Great show—great dancers”

Fitness on Tap

Tap dancing burns 360—480 kcals per hour

It’s a moderate exercise so it’s easy to enjoy and get a good workout, rather than feel like you’re dying.

Tap can help balance—as we get older we rely more on our thighs for co-ordination. Tap exercises our lower legs and ankles which helps to maintain our balance.

The better you get, the more exercise you have, until you reach a point where your technique is so good you need to use less energy.

Exercising big muscle groups means heart rate increases.

Tap is so involved with music—you need to tap out the rhythm and as soon as you exercise to music you feel happier
